Roca has become part of the design of the new tapas restaurant, “Tickets”, and the new “41” cocktail bar that Adrià’s brother has recently opened in Barcelona. Both premises are connected by an inner passage, although they are independent and are located in the well known Paral·lel Avenue, in the heart of Barcelona.

One of the unique characteristics of these restaurants is that the materials that have been used in the design concept, including some of the Roca tile pieces, are showcased in the side window of the building.

Tickets restaurant features the Roca Coral 4×4 Beige & Marron Glass Tile at the restaurant bar, as well as the Roca Rainbow 6×18 Marino (men’s restroom) and the Rainbow 6×18 Amarillo & Aquamarina (ladies’ restroom). The exterior glass installed at 41 Cocktail Bar was inspired by Roca BCN Gallery and the flooring features Roca New Look 24×48 Gris.

For these new premises, Albert Adrià collaborated with all the owners of the well known Rías de Galicia restaurant, as well as his brother Ferran Adrià, known as one of the best chefs in the world.

Ferran Adrià is a Catalan Spanish born chef. He was the head chef of the El Bulli, restaurant in Roses, on the Catalan Costa Brava that has been awarded 3 Michelin stars and was regarded as one of the best restaurants in the world. In 2005, it ranked second in the Restaurant Top 50, and from 2006 to 2009 it was awarded first place, displacing The Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, England.

Roca has collaborated with Hugo Boss in the design of his new fashion store in Sydney. Roca has been in charge of providing the flooring for the new store located at 454 Oxford Street in the district of Paddington-Sydney, Australia. The York series, of the Rock & Rock Collection, was the double-pressed porcelain chosen for this occasion, for its beauty, movement and naturalness.

York, and the entire Rock & Rock Collection, is the best of both worlds. It has the natural beauty of stone with the advantages of porcelain such as resistance, durability and easy maintenance. All these features make York an ideal product for commercial surfaces.
This project, designed by Hugo Boss and directed by Sidgreaves Group, has achieved “The Australian Shop & Office Award¨.

• Roca opens a new 6,700 sf showroom in Italy

Roca opened a large showroom in Italy coinciding with this year´s Cersaie show. This innovative showroom, located in the center of Sassuolo, has a strong focus on design and architectural solutions. It is designed with curved spaces as well as the products on display.

Green City and Brodway are two of the new 2011 products featured in this showroom. Green City is the latest series from the Top Green Collection, which is produced from 80% recycled pre-consumer content, CERTIFIED BY BUREAU VERITAS. This ecological porcelain takes sustainability into account throughout the entire production process. TOP GREEN also contributes to the sustainability of buildings according to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points system.

Broadway is the new 0.59” thick porcelain tile from Roca. With its hardness, excellent slip resistance and high technical performance, it is ideal for any indoor or outdoor installation. It can also be used for exterior public areas with high traffic such as swimming pool projects, retail and hospitality zones, public areas, urban exteriors, stairs, steps and ramps.

Roca, in conjunction with the Giorgio Armani Group, has created a new bathroom concept under Armani Casa, the division of the fashion group for home design. This brand was created ten years ago, specializing in the design of furniture, interiors, kitchens and now bathrooms. Roca has become the third company to partner with the exclusive Armani Casa, after the Italian firms Rubelli and Dada.

In July 2009, ruling out four others international groups, Armani signed with Roca after. “We needed a partner with a strong international distribution network”, explained the General Manager for Armani Casa, Fabrice Gouffran. “We also have the advantage of offering not just a product, but a concept of innovation for the bathroom, which is exactly what we have created with Roca Gallery”, added the Roca manager for Europe, Miquel Àngel Munar.

The Armani/Roca bathroom meets the strictest criteria for a pure design without ever compromising luxury and sensuality. It combines elegance, harmony and comfort, all with high tech advanced solutions. ¨Roca is the perfect company that we needed to create our new bathroom offering ¨said Giorgio Armani. ¨The bathroom¨, he added, “is our private refuge when we arrive home. I´ve had a lot of fun designing this collection, always looking for functionality¨.

This collection achieves a fine balance through the precise selection of materials and textures. For the first time, the bathroom nucleus is configured as an island with the exquisite touch of the finest porcelain, where the basin, sanitary ware, bath and shower areas are concentrated.

Armani bathrooms will be marketed next year through exclusive stores worldwide. The collection will be installed in the Armani Hotel that will open in Milan in 2011. Roca will manufacture this collection in its European factories and the distribution will be very exclusive, through an international network of approximately 300 stores.
